Half Term Family Fun

With half term around the corner and many events being postponed or cancelled, you may be looking for some inspiration for keeping your little people entertained.  We’ve done the legwork for you and rounded up all the attractions and happenings near Pringle Farm to keep everyone happy during your stay.  Don’t forget, booking is mandatory for most events at the moment, and these activities will book up fast!

‘Week of Wickedness’ at Skylark Maize Maze and Funyard, Saturday 24thOctober – Sunday 1st November  (23 miles)

Spooktacular fun will be on the cards at Skylark, with activities including pumpkin picking and carving, a magic and comedy show and fancy dress competitions among others.  If all the wickedness becomes too much, there is also a garden centre and café for a calming few minutes.

Scarewell’ at Sacrewell Farm, Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November  (19 miles)

Alongside the usual things to see and do at Sacrewell Farm, during half term you can also partake in pumpkin picking, chocolate making and a spooky mill walk around the Grade II* listed water mill.  If all that’s not enough, there are plenty of animals to see and an outdoor play area, plus a lovely farm shop and café serving food from locally sourced produce.

‘Where’s Wally? Spooky Museum Search’ at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November  (26 miles)

Wally is hiding all over museums nationwide to celebrate the release of his new book ‘Where’s Wally? Spooky Spotlight Search’.  See if you can find him in the Fitzwilliam Museum’s collections and take in a little culture at the same time!  This is a free activity and there’s even a chance to win an ArtFund family membership and some Where’s Wally? Goodies.

‘Wickedly Weird Wildlife Trail’ at Grafham Water, Saturday 24th October – Saturday 31st October  (13 miles)

Get into nature at Grafham water, England’s third largest reservoir, and learn about the creepy crawlies and petrifying plant life inhabiting the surrounding countryside.  All participants on the wildlife trail will also receive a Halloween treat bag at the end.  Grafham is also a lovely place for a walk or bike ride if you want to explore the area further.

‘A Spooktacular Halloween Weekend!’ at Cambridge Science Centre, Saturday 31st October – Sunday 1st November  (27 miles)

Head to Cambridge Science Centre for some ghoulish slime making, Halloween themed demonstrations and more spooky activities.  As well as this Halloween special, there are plenty of other half term workshops and special events to amaze and delight.

Aside from these special half term events, there are plenty of other great things to do:

Explore the beautiful city of Cambridge by treasure map (https://treasurehuntcambridge.com) following a route that will take you past historical sights and hidden gems.  Try your hand at paddleboarding or canoeing at Milton Country Park (https://www.miltoncountrypark.org/wateractivities) or hire a bike and go for a ride if you’d prefer to stay on dry land!  Or if you’re feeling particularly energetic, tuck jump over to Xtreme 360 trampoline park.
